College Options is pleased to present a series of parent workshops designed to mirror the foundational content of our individual process, provided in a small group setting. With an enrollment cap of 6 families, each workshop includes materials and the opportunity for individual questions. 

Early College Planning:
For Parents of 7th- 9th Graders
 1 ½ hours $ 90

Get a jump start on understanding today’s college admissions climate. Learn what you can do now to be better prepared for high school and the college search process. Early education helps families make informed choices about academic, extracurricular and financial planning for college.

2-Part Financial Aid & Affordability Series

The following two workshops are available for separate enrollment, or at a special two-session price of $150. Families with a college list in mind, may also sign up for the “Affordability Check Up,” which includes both workshops plus an hour of individual affordability consultation, for a special package price of $250 (a savings of $200 as compared to our personalized Express Affordability Consult).

Part 1- Financial Aid & Paying for College:
For Parents of 7th- 12th Graders
1 ½ hours $ 90

This workshop focuses on the basics of the financial aid landscape, including important terminology, filing tips, timelines and the impact of the new prior-prior year lookback process. Learn how to find your estimated family contribution, build affordability into the college search process, and evaluate college financial aid packages. This session provides a good foundation of knowledge for better understanding of the merit and scholarship search process that is discussed in the second workshop.

Part 2- Introduction to Merit Aid & Scholarship Search:
For Parents of 9th- 12th Graders
 1 ½ hours $ 90

Our second workshop continues the discussion of merit aid, including an overview of net price calculators as well as the best research tools for finding school-based scholarships and recruitment grants. Whether or not you qualify for need-based aid, we will show how it is possible to build a college list with a budget in mind. We will also discuss outside scholarships: were to find them, and how much time to spend on them.

Affordability Check Up
$250

This special package includes both Part 1 and Part 2 of the Financial Aid & Affordability workshops, plus a one hour individual consultation to review the affordability and projected costs of a list up to 12 colleges.
