New Workshop Series

College-Bound Students  

Individualized, one-on-one college counseling services are available to students and families according to their needs. Clients may chose a short-term hourly arrangement, or from one of the following counseling packages for more comprehensive service.

Comprehensive College Planning Package

Beginning at any time from the end of sophomore year through the beginning of the senior year, this package includes an average of 8 to 12 meetings as well as e-mail and phone access to your consultant during the entire process.

The pace and order of these services is based on the needs of each client, and includes the following:

  • An initial two-hour assessment interview with the student and their parents, including a general outline of the college search & admissions process
  • Student interest and college criteria assessments & questionnaires
  • Review of assessments and discussion of career & major interests
  • Transcript review and course planning
  • Standardized test planning including PSAT, SAT, SAT II, PLAN, ACT and AP tests
  • Activities review & resume development
  • College visit & research advising
  • Three stages of a personalized list of colleges (for details, please refer to box at right)
  • Advice regarding admissions options including Regular Decision, ED/EA, SCEA and Rolling Admissions
  • Guidance on all aspects of the college application process including filing electronic forms, sending test results, acquiring recommendations, transcript requests, essay development and any supplemental material
  • Assistance with personal statements including brainstorming and idea development, as well as critiquing of general flow, tone and style of the essay
  • Interview preparation
  • Consideration to finding affordable options if required
  • Review of acceptance choices, including handling waitlist decisions
  • Focus throughout the process on organizational tools well as attention to deadlines and application details

College Planning & List Development Package

This package is limited to a total of 4 meetings and can be tailored to most students between spring of the junior year and fall of the senior year. These services are focused primarily on aiding students in finding a good college fit and on addressing individual questions regarding the college search process.

The series of meetings begins with an initial two-hour meeting, including an hour of individual time with the student to discuss college criteria and general interests. Total services include:

  • Student interest and college criteria assessments & questionnaires
  • Transcript review & course planning
  • Standardized test planning
  • Activities review & resume development
  • College visit & research advising
  • Personalized College List (Research List in Junior year or Application List in Senior year)
  • Guidance with evaluating admissions options and an introduction to establishing deadline timetables as well as supplemental materials

 

 

 

 

 

The College Options College List includes three stages for Comprehensive Package Clients:

A fully developed Research List of 18—25 schools, ideally targeted for the end of first semester junior year

An Admissibility List which balances reach, eye-level and likely schools

And a Final Application List with timetables & deadlines for applications, testing, and supplemental materials
